Voltage Loss

Voltage loss is calculated using OHM's Law:
    E = I x R
        E is the voltage loss in volts
        I is the current in amperes
        R is the resistance of the wire in ohms

The diameter, length, and type of metal used in the wire affect voltage drop.

You can find a complete discussion of voltage loss at Paige Electric's website, including formulas for voltage loss in single-phase and three-phase applications, examples, and wire resistance charts.
